The stamp series «Colours of Switzerland» explores Swiss nature and landscapes through colour. At first glance, the stamps appear as simple colour fields with colour names, reminiscent of samples from a paint palette. Each stamp is labelled in all four national languages.
A closer look reveals carefully composed gradients that capture specific moods and atmospheres of the Swiss landscape. Across eight motifs, the series traces a symbolic spectrum of the country. From the lush green of alpine meadows and the warm golden hues of autumn larch forests to the cool grey of mountain peaks and the pale white of snow.
Each stamp is built around a dominant hue that gives it its name. This central colour is expanded toward the edges with complementary tones. All colours are defined using precise Pantone shades, including fluorescent and pastel tones, which lend the series additional intensity.
We devoted significant time to the detailed study of colour. In the final stage, we travelled to the printing house in the Netherlands to fine-tune the colours directly on the printing press.
The reduction in design creates space for personal memories and emotions associated with these atmospheres. The result is a poetic interplay between visual precision and emotional resonance, highlighting the diversity and character of Switzerland’s landscapes and nature.
