Westbund 25
For the 2025 edition of the Westbund Art Fair in Shanghai, we developed a visual identity centered on the artistic gesture. Rather than focusing on the finished work, we turned our attention to the movement that precedes it: the confident sweep of a brush, the precision of a practiced hand, and the expressive rhythm that defines an artist’s unique way of working.
The identity captures a wide range of gestures, from fast and delicate to slow and bold. Each movement reveals a different character, while subtle shifts in colour evoke the layers of experience and refinement that develop through years of practice. Like calligraphy, where countless repetitions gradually lead to effortless precision, every gesture becomes the result of time, discipline, and intuition.
At the heart of the identity is the idea of perfection emerging through motion. Every animated gesture, no matter how complex, eventually resolves into a seamless loop. The movement continuously repeats without beginning or end, transforming fleeting actions into timeless forms. Through these endless cycles, the identity celebrates artistic practice itself: an ongoing process of repetition, refinement, and expression, where every gesture carries both the history of its making and the confidence of its execution.
